Proper pillow height is key when trying to avoid neck pain while sleeping. The pillow must support the small curve in the back of your neck when lying on your back. The pillow must support the space in between your head and shoulder when lying on your side.
Proper desk posture is hard to maintain. Correct alignment includes a monitor at eye level. If it is not at eye level, use a book to elevate the monitor. This facilitates correct neck alignment and avoids rounding shoulders. This will help to prevent neck pain.
Here are some easy stretches to do while at work or at home while sitting at your desk. These stretches include: a thoracic stretch or stretch for your mid back, a hamstring stretch (stretch for the back of your thighs) which often get tight with prolonged sitting and a piriformis stretch (for your gluteal/buttock) muscles.
